This would depend on how your nets sessions are structured. A Sports Psychologist only attends the 1st net of a player. So if you had a bowler on 3 nets – you would only need 1 x SP for him. If you have 10 individual nets, for 10 individual players, then you would need 10. Let me know how your nets are structured and I’ll be glad to give you a definative answer – Madbias
Sorry, but I think you got that a bit wrong …

“All psychologists will attend each net for which any would qualify, so have 10 different players being trained one session of batting each and all psychologists will attend all 10 sessions.”
I’m a noob at the game but, from what I’ve read elsewhere 5-7 are the max you need, any more have no practical effect.
Not sure where you’re coming from on this. It all depands on the way you’ve set up your nets. 5-7 “may” be enough, if you are training a player with more than one net – assuming the net is anything except Stamina.
So if I had 10 seperate players, who all had a single bowling net – then I would need 10 x PS coachs. However, if I had 5 seperate players each on 2 bowling nets – I’d only need 5 x PS coaches.
In reality, you tend to give certain players more than one net and possible some a Stamina net – and therefore 5-7 PS coaches is more than enough.
It does however depend on how you allocate the nets to your players.
If anybody wants to let me know how they’ve structured their nets – I’ll be glad to advise on how many PS coaches they would need
My understanding is the same as Bob’s. According to the rules, if you have 5 SPs, then these 5 will go (as a group if you may) to all 10 nets if (as per your example) you have 10 separate players each doing a bowling net. These 5 will not attend a net if (a) it is a stamina net or (b) it is not the first net of that skill (bat, bowl) for the player in the net.
So in theory you can have 1 SP that will attend all 10 nets but if you have more then the effect will be higher (and diminishing) at each net THEY attend.
Hi johanx – thanks for coming to the site and commenting. To get the full pictures on PS Coaches, you need to read not only the section on Sports psychologists, but the section on nets. In the Nets section of the rules, the following paragraph spells it out a little more clearly :-
“Sports psychologists will only attend the first net of a type per player per day. So your bowling trainee with 3 bowling nets only sees the sports psychologists in the first net and the sports psychologists are not available to him in the subsequent bowling nets. If he had a fielding net as well, they would also attend that session. All psychologists will attend each net for which any would qualify, so have 10 different players being trained one session of batting each and all psychologists will attend all 10 sessions.”
This to me slightly goes against what Bob and yourself see it to be. I could be wrong and will ask Allan directly to clarify. It is a little confusing – but then again it wouldn’t be Battrick without a few grey areas LOL
I too have to agree with the guys as stated above. I have been involved with the U19 Setup within the West Indies for the last 5 seasons….and trust me if players only had 1 SP, they will not pop even half the time as stated on this site.
Hi Windies – thanks for the comment. OK – I’ll throw a little question into the pot. My nets are as follows :-
Player 1 has – 1 x Batting Net
Player 2 has – 2 x Bowling, 1 x Stamina and 1 x Fielding Net
Player 3 has – 2 x Batting Net
Player 4 has – 1 x Stamina Net
Player 5 has – 1 x Batting and 1 x Fielding Net
How many PS’s would you advise? By my reackoning I would need 6 PS’s
Sorry mate, but you are mistaken. The more SP’s you have (up to a point, because the effect of extra ones becomes negligible over a certain number), the faster secondaries train on anyone being trained on a primary/fielding/wk net. So, let’s say for example you were (for some bizarre reason) only using 3 nets, and training 1 player on 3 x bowl. If, by your logic, you only employed 1 SP, the trainee’s consistency would increase at an agonisingly slow rate – probably about half as fast as if you had 5-7 SP’s.
Hi Cheesewire, thanks for the comment. It seems as though my perception on things is wrong. Having asked Al, he provisionally agreed with you, but said he would investigate further after his wedding (which he’s now back from). If this is the case, then I might as well just have the maximum as this will give me however slight – an advantage over say 6. However – I’ve had 10 before and then reduced it to what I thought was the optimum and never noticed any difference in the pop times.
I am prepared to hold my hands up though guys and say I’m wrong on this (unless Al comes back and tells me otherwise).
Thank you to all, for your comments and please feel free to ask questions on any of the other categories on the site.
Well Madbias, Did Al get back to you? In a game like Battrick being so competitive these “finer” details make all the difference. I see players with 250′000 BT points and think what the hell am I missing here. I recruit players and they have 7000 tops BT points with my academy in top shape. So I am guessing that its in the training!

The site is dedicated to helping the newcomers to Battrick. It is maintained by three current Battrick players :-
"Impurity" of A Few Cheap Gins CC (Ex England Manager), "Madbias" of Fenwick CC (Ex BT Focus Group Member) and "dallholio" of Feckin' Hull (Current BT Focus Group Member)
All the information on this site has been gathered over the last few years and is believed to be accurate (although things "do" change). Special thanks to "keggut" for the work & research he has done collecting alot of the information on this site.
