The aggressiveness of the captain has no effect on the fielding of the team or individual players.

What Does The Captain Do On Matchday?

He determines how much the team obeys your orders.
As the first class game comes along, the captain will start to take a lot more responsibility for who bowls and when. This will also take more of an effect when you see the conditional orders becoming available.

What skills does a Captain require?

Experience and Leadership.

Captains will definitely have much more of a role to play in FC matches.

During the IRC Q&A on 17 Oct 2006, Allan stated:
“How much of an input does a captain have on the team? A small effect – you will see it become more in the FC games.”

During the IRC Q&A on 30 Jun 2006, Allan stated:
“When selecting a captain, will his Aggression affect the decisions he will make in the match (ie. will an aggressive captain set more aggressive fields etc than a defensive captain?)? No – his aggression only has an impact on his personal performance.”

Experience is gained by playing matches. Possibly events such as scoring 100 or 50 runs in an innings, taking catches, taking wickets etc may increase experience gained. Playing friendlies increase experience, but much smaller than playing a competitive match.

Wages are the costs you pay to keep a player in your team. Wages are paid weekly.
Wages are reassessed at the commencement of each new season to consider changes in skill levels through training/skill decay.
Be careful with your total wage bill – the wage ‘ceiling’ is hard to smash through if you have a lot of highly-skilled players.

The wage formula (primary skills only) is :
(n-3) cubed x (n-1) + 250 = wage
where n is the skill rating i.e mediocre=5, competent=6, etc.
NB. Secondaries (consistency/concentration) add roughly 20% of the above figures to the wage.

All the elements – Stamina, Wicketkeeping, Batting, Bowling, Concentration, Consistency, Fielding and Form (both batting & bowling) help determine a players BTR.  Two players can have exactly the same BTR but be completely different in their skill levels.

A player’s form indicates how well he will perform in matches and has a significant impact on his performance- the higher the form level, the better the player performs. You may well be better off picking a worse batsman who is in better form, than your star player who is in worse form.

Individual match order have no impact on player form.

Team performance (win/loss) has no impact on player form.

Types Of Form

Form is split into Batting and Bowling to show how a players form can fluctuate in each discipline.
A players wicket keeping ability is affected by his bowling form.

How To Increase Form

Every week, about half the players in BT will change their form.
It is possible that a player will not change in form for a number of weeks regardless of whether they are trained or not, or playing or not.
All you can do to try and improve a player’s form is to play him in matches or train him.
Players have a far greater chance of improving their form (if their form changes that week) if they play a match or are being trained.

Training Improves Form

A player who is receiving individual training has a better chance of increasing his form.
All players that are trained by specialists are more likely to see a rise in their form that week, as are the players who play in a match, regardless of whether they actually bowl or bat.

It is possible that a player will not change in form for a number of weeks regardless of whether they are trained or not, or playing or not.

He will have various decisions to make throughout a game, and may have to lift a depressed side when things are not going well. This combined with his experience will determine how effective he is as a captain.

The highest leadership skill level a player can be is Superb.

The more aggressive a batsman is, the more likely he is to score runs quickly, but he will be more likely to get out.

Aggression For Bowlers

The more aggressive a bowler is, the more likely he is to get wickets, but also more likely to be expensive.

This can be tempered by individual orders though.
